03/26/17 PLYMOUTH, IND. – Youth Leadership Marshall County (YLMC) participants loaded the Bowen Center “Flower Bus” on Wednesday, March 19th to head to Ancilla for the morning. Although the weather was a bit damp, the kids were pumped up and ready to learn. The morning was to include a tour of Ancilla College and their grounds, Moontree.

The 13 youth that participated were greeted first thing in the morning by Eric Wignall, Interim Executive Director of Admissions at Ancilla College. Wignall guided the group around the College, explaining the history, mission, and admission process into Ancilla. The College is sponsored by the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ and is a two-year liberal arts school. After a discussion of what to expect in college and how to plan for the future now, the youth then loaded back onto the Bowen Center’s “Flower Bus” and headed to Moontree.

Moontree is a ministry of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ and sits on Ancilla College’s campus. Their goal is to “challenge people to experience mindfulness as they fearlessly explore the interconnectedness of art, nature, and the Spirit within” according to their website. The Youth Leadership Marshall County kids learned about the different events and displays that happen at Moontree. Many hoped to be able to come back for a visit within the near future.

After Moontree, the Youth Leadership Marshall County participants returned to the Marshall County Extension Office where they enjoyed pizza, leadership games, and debriefing from the day. Thank you to all that went and to Ancilla for hosting us! Next month the YLMC group will be hosting a community service day for their April Meeting.
