A Plymouth teen failing to yield the right-of-way when attempting to cross US 31 Friday morning caused a three vehicle accident that sent one to a trauma center by helicopter.
At approximately 7:52 a.m. The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department responded to a three vehicle personal injury accident on US 31 at 11th Road.
17 year old Cameron Andrews of Plymouth was traveling east bound on 11th road in a 2006 Dodge Durango just before 8 a.m. As he attempted to cross the north bound lanes of US 31 he drove into the driver’s side of a 2006 Mercury Milan driven by 68 year old Carolyn A Riddle of Goshen.
Impact from the crash caused Andrews’ vehicle to spin and roll onto it passenger side, striking the front of a 1999 Mack Dump Truck from Miami Trucking that was sitting on 11th road headed west waiting to cross the intersection.
The impact from the initial crash caused the Mercury Milan to leave the roadway on the east side and strike a fence before coming to rest.
Cheryl Hale of Peru, the driver of the dump truck was not injured in the incident. Cameron Andrews complained of pain and Carolyn Riddle was trapped in the vehicle. Once she was extricated from the vehicle she was airlifted from the scene.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this crash.
Marshall County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Indiana State Police, Plymouth Fire Department, and Plymouth EMS.
