PHS_AcademicHallOfFameTwelve outstanding graduating seniors of Plymouth High School were inducted into the Academic Hall of Fame on May 17, 2015.

James Condon, principal of PHS, said, “One of the things we ask incoming freshman is “What will your legacy be when you leave Plymouth High School”? The students being inducted into our Academic Hall of Fame will forever be remembered for exemplary performance in the specific content areas for which they are being recognized.”

He added, “Their pictures will be displayed on the walls of Plymouth High School as part of our rich academic history and to inspire those who follow them.”

The practice of naming students to the Academic Hall of Fame has been in place since 1986.

PHS Assistant Principal, Kyle Coffman outlined the criteria for induction. He said that each department reviews the criteria and then nominates a student for induction. Nominees must be a graduating senior in good standing and must have taken classes in the respective department for a minimum of eight trimesters. If it is necessary to use the current trimester that a student enrolled in, the sixth week grade is estimated. Additional criteria includes: “A student must have a minimum “A” average, or a 4.0 point value in the respective department or curriculum for their high school career. Honor classes are figured with a weighted scale.”

Each department may establish criteria above and beyond the minimum requirements and no ties will be accepted. Representing the departments and presenting the students for induction included : John Barron (Physical Education); Gene Skirvin (Business); Suzette Read (Science); Rich Schieber (Industrial Tech); Jane Faulstich (Performing Arts); Kristin Dorland (English); Bryan Ames (Instrumental Music); Laura Kruyer (Social Studies); Paula Steiner (Mathematics); Delia Gadziola (World Language); Haley Church (Art); and Ryan VanAntwerp (Vocal Music).

The Hall of Fame Committee members included Charlotte Tyree, Delia Gadziola, Paul Patrick, Grant Mason, Aimee Portteus, James Condon, Kyle Coffman, Ken Olson, and Lisa Huff.
