St Paddy's Day 2015The 4th annual St. Paddy’s DAY Dash, a 5K Run/Walk will take place this Saturday, March 14 at Plymouth High School.

This year race will raise funds to advance access to compassionate care for cancer patients throughout Marshall County.

Aimee Portteus, Director of Guidance at PHS and a current breast cancer fighter is this year’s spokesperson, joining together with many others to raise life-saving funds and awareness for cancer patient support systems.

Portteus said, “When I was diagnosed with breast cancer, I went from being my family’s and students’ caregiver to entering a new world of needing daily help just so I could get better. I am very grateful for all the friends and family who have walked beside me throughout this journey. And, I wouldn’t be as far along in my recovery as I am without the help of many different organizations and support systems in our community.”  She continues,  “I’m excited to be part of the Dash and have the opportunity to give back to several programs that have been important to me and to others in this process.”

Organizations and programs that will be assisted by this year’s St. Paddy’s DAY Dash are: • Hello Gorgeous at CC Hair Company • The Cancer Association of Marshall County • Programs within St. Joseph Regional Medical Center – Plymouth Campus • Plymouth Therapeutic Massage and The STAY POSITIVE Foundation.

Cost of registration is $15.00 for any student and $20.00 for adults for the 3.2 mile run/walk. Both entries include a tee shirt. Registration begins at 1:00 in the North Lobby of Plymouth High School.  The race begins at 2:00 with a course that winds through the park.  Bruce’s “Big Grill” BBQ Pulled Pork dinners will be available for drive up service for $8.00 a dinner. The PHS National Honor Society will be selling fresh baked goods.

Come join the fun this Saturday, March 14 at the St. Paddy’s DAY Dash and help support several great community causes.

Portteus closed her comments by saying,  “Celebrating survivorship together with this community by reaching out to assist others is one of the most important gifts of my life.”
