Plymouth AirportPlymouth Municipal Airport Manager, Dave Latimer presented members of the City Council with the 2016-2020 Capital Improvement  Program (CIP) this week.  The plan lays out projects the local aviation board would like to complete during the next five years.

The airport will undertake a major runway improvement and widening project this year and in 2016 rehabilitation of the hanger taxiways adjacent to the two T-hanger buildings are priority one.  Estimated cost for this project is $295,000.

The Plymouth aviation board is still working towards an AWOS (automated weather observation system) for the airport.  It’s listed on the CIP for 2017.  Estimated cost for the project is $166,000.

The current Airport Layout Plan (ALP) was approved in 2004 and includes development of a new runway that the board no-longer considers feasible.  To consider future development of the airport the board proposes a new Airport Layout Plan at an estimated cost of $205,000.

2019 the local aviation commission proposed to being the tasks required to remove the obstacles creating the displacement  and relocated thresholds in order to allow the full 4,717 feet length of runway by closing Lilac Road and creating two cul-de-sacs at an estimated cost of $130,000.

Lilac Road closure work continues with land acquisition in 2020.  Estimated cost is $150,000.
