A two vehicle crash Saturday morning about 8:30 on U.S. 31 at 14 C Road sent six people to the hospital and one of them died later that day.
67 year old Robert Lant of Plymouth was in a 2012 Chevrolet was entering the traffic lanes of U.S. 31 from the crossed over and pulled into the path of a south bound Mercedes that was traveling south on U.S. 31.
43 year old Matthew Bera of Alabama was driving the 2008 Mercedes and was unable to avoid striking Lant’s Chevrolet. Bera, his wife Terrie and three young children were all complaining of pain and were transported to Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth for treatment.
Robert Lant was treated on scene by Argos EMS and Plymouth paramedics and was transported to Memorial Hospital in South Bend. He died about 6 p.m. Saturday evening from injuries sustained in the accident.
Marshall County Police Officer Les McFarland was assisted at the scene by other county officers, Argos Fire and EMS, Plymouth EMS and Culver EMS.
