Solid WasteMembers of the Marshall County Solid Waste District board met this week and received a status update on filling the director’s position.

A total of 9 resumes were received and the committee narrowed those down to 4 for interviews.  30 minute interviews will be conducted on March 9th.

HR consultants, Wagner, Irwin & Sheely reviewed the job description for the director’s position.  Board members had a couple of months to review and make changes and during Monday’s meeting the board unanimously accepted the revised job description.

The board also determined the salary for the new director.  Board member Jon VanVactor said he took last year’s salary and added the $300 given to employees for 2015.  The amended salary ordinance will have the director’s salary at $56,717.96.

There was a second portion to the amended salary ordinance…setting a rate for the summer intern.  VanVactor said rates have varied from $10.34 an hour up to $11.00 an hour the past several years.  Members of the Solid  Waste District board determined $10.00 an hour was a fair rate for a summer intern and set that rate when the approve the 2015 salary amendment.
