During Tuesday’s Election Board meeting County Clerk, Deb VanDeMark told members they had 12 walk in voters on the first day and as of Tuesday morning a total of 34 have voted absentee and 6 mail-in votes have been received.

Absentee voting for the 2015 Municipal Elections in Argos, Culver and Plymouth is now underway in the Clerk’s Office in the County Courthouse on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. and Saturday, October 24th and 31st from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.   Walk-in voters are reminded that they don’t need any reason to vote absentee.

The voters in the Clerk’s office are using the new poll pads where your driver’s license is scanned.  They have been “working wonderfully” and are “user friendly” according to Clerk Deb VanDeMark.

Absentee voting by Travel Board begins on October 22nd.  To vote by Travel Board you must also meet specific qualifications.   If you think you meet the qualifications and wish to vote by Travel Board, please contact the Marshall County Clerk’s office at 935-8713 to make arrangements.  Donna Pontius told the Election Board, “We’ve had lots of requests for the travel board.  In fact, a couple of days are already filled.”  Lyn Ward and Linda Star will be working the travel board for the November 3rd Municipal Elections.

Poll worker training is scheduled for October 27th and at this point they still need a Democratic Sheriff in Culver although that is the last position to fill.

Poll worker training will also stress making sure voters have their licenses with them after voting.  They had a voter in the Clerk’s office scan their driver’s license and forget to pick it up.  Unfortunately the woman was staying in South Bend taking care of an elderly parent and arrangements had to be made to get it back to the woman.

The final point of business for the Marshall County Election Board was a registration from the West City of Plymouth precinct.  With only one parcel in the precinct, Voter Registration is trying to verify the application because there is no residence on the property.
