A Plymouth mother has been charged with Attempted Murder, a class A felony, Aggravated Battery a level 3 felony, Neglect of a Dependent Resulting in Bodily Injury a level 5 felony and Battery by Means of a Deadly Weapon a level 5 felony.
26 year old Amanda Nethercutt was booked into the Marshall County Jail on Wednesday after being released from the Bowen Center.
Plymouth Police were dispatched to 1032 Ed Cook Boulevard August 13th about 3:30 for a 9-1-1 call of a fight in progress.
Officer Matt Emenhiser located 65 year old Mary Nethercutt told him Amanda Nethercutt tried to drown her 6 year daughter in the bath tub. Mary said she walked into the bathroom and Amanda was holding the child under the water. She knocked Amanda out of the way and pulled the child out of the tub. According to court documents, Mary said the girl was turning blue and not breathing so she laid her on her side and water ran out and she began to breath. At that point it is alleged that Amanda broke a towel bar off the wall and began beating Mary with it. Mary shielded the child and ran down the hallway with Amanda behind her hitting her with her fists. As Mary put the child down to call 911 she hear her say, “why did you save her?” Amanda Nethercutt is alleged to have then put her hands about the child’s neck and began choking her. At that point the grandmother grabbed up the little girl and left the apartment screaming.
Officer Emenhiser observed injuries to Mary Nethercutt’s face and the child was blue in the face and around her neck was blue.
Officer Emenhiser located Amanda inside apartment 1036. As she exited the apartment she had a knife in her hand and after refusing to obey an order to drop the knife she was tased in the wrist by the officer.
Mary Nethercutt and the 6 year old juvenile were transported to Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth for treatment. Amanda Nethercutt was transported to the Plymouth Hospital for evaluation and later transported to the Bowen Center in Warsaw for further evaluation.
At this time Amanda Nethercutt is being held in the Marshall County Jail with no bond.
