RecycleDepotIn celebration of Earth Day, Marshall County Solid Waste held a month-long contest to give away a free compost bin, as well as a book on composting. The drawing was at noon on Earth Day, April 22, and Amy Burkholder, resident of Plymouth, was the lucky winner of the Redmon Company 8000 Green Culture Black 65-Gallon Compost Bin.

“Amy had also attended the composting class at the Recycle Depot on April 21, so I’m really excited that she gets to put her learning into practice,” said Marianne Peters, director.

Peters emphasized that Marshall County residents don’t have to wait for a contest to pick up a compost bin. The Recycle Depot sells them for $40 (they normally retail for $70-$100), and residents can stop by anytime the Depot is open to purchase one. The Depot’s hours are currently Tuesday-Friday, 8:30-3:30 p.m. and 8-12 noon on the first Saturday of every month. More information about the Depot, including the materials they collect, can be found on their website: www.myrecycledepot.org.
