PLYMOUTH, IN –  The Lady Chargers drop their record to 7-5  with a loss to Lake Michigan College Tuesday night in opening night of the Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) conference season.

The scores for the evening were 25-27, 25-22, 25-22, 13-25, 11-15. Charger Coach Lana Singleton applauded the efforts of the Lake Michigan College team under their new coaching staff, “LMC came out on fire, they served tough, hit some great shots, had some timely blocks, and didn’t give up. They are definitely not the same team we beat in three at the Grace College Tournament this past weekend.”

Singleton continued, “On the other hand, we could not seem to find our rhythm. We struggled to pass serve and they were able to gain 14 aces to our three. We did not do well covering our hitters and had 30 hitting errors for the night. Our slow reaction on defense was disappointing.”

Singleton praised the efforts of Sophia Smith who had 10 kills, one ace, 19 digs, and four blocks. Jackie Friel had a consistent night handing out 25 assists. Natalee Walters led in digs with 24.

“We have been playing some good volleyball until tonight and hopefully we can get back on track,” remarked Singleton.

The Lady Chargers will play at home against Grand Rapids on Thursday Night. Game time is set for 6:30p.m.
