LANSING, MI – The Lady Chargers dropped a hard fought match against Lansing Community College, who is currently tied for first place in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) conference, Tuesday night 21-25, 25-27, 23-25.

Ancilla coach Lana Singleton praised the efforts of her Lady Chargers, “I was happy to see my old team was back battling hard tonight. Lansing is a solid team and is well coached and we gave them a great match.”

Sophia Smith posted a double-double leading the team in both kills and digs with 11 and 21 respectively. Tori Bush added six kills and Maddie Price had one of her best showings since opening weekend, leading in the assist department with 18 assists and maintaining good composure. Jill Brown had 18 digs followed by Natalee Walter’s 16 digs.

Coach Singleton added, “We had an outstanding defensive effort by our blockers (Albers, Brenneman, Bush, Smith, Brown, and Gonzalez) who really stepped up against some really good hitters. Smith, Brown and Walters played some gritty defense to help keep us in the game and I know it is a loss in the books, but our efforts tonight were a step in the right direction getting this team back on track.”

The Lady Chargers play home Thursday at the Lifeplex against Lake Michigan College. It is also the “Hunger Game” match and spectators are asked to bring two cans of non-perishable food items for admittance into the game.
