Autumn Ganser does not shy away from an adventure; you may even call her a free spirit. But she wasn’t always this way; in fact, a few years ago she had her life all planned out but she explains “God had other plans for her.”
Ganser, a sophomore graduating this spring from Ancilla College with an A.S. in business administration, will leave for a business internship in Taiwan in June. Autumn describes her trip as business as ministry. She is traveling with an organization called Envision which is a Christian ministry program that offers academic training in addition to intercultural immersion and ministry opportunities. Autumn is not new to business internships; she has been interning with Marshall County United Way and shadowing accountants from Marshal County Community Foundation.
The summer internship consists of 6 weeks in Taiwan taking business classes, Mandarin classes, meeting with local business leaders and working in management for a local coffee house. The coffee house is owned by an American expat who lives and ministers in Taiwan. The program is based on the “Principles of Business combined with the Presence of God equaling a place in the community.” She will spend an additional 2 weeks living with a host family to travel the country.
Autumn stated, “I am so excited about this opportunity. What better way to combine my business degree with my passion for ministry? I knew when I was younger God called me to work internationally; it just took patience, preparation, and hard work.”
Next fall, Autumn plans to enroll at Simpson University in Redding, CA to finish her B.A. in Cross-Cultural Studies with a Business concentration.
Ancilla College (www.ancilla.edu), part of The Center at Donaldson, offers 18 associate degrees and 10 athletic programs. Since 1937, the College has been a sponsored ministry of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ. It is a small, private, liberal arts school in Donaldson, Indiana. It is located two miles south of U.S. 30 on Union Road near Plymouth, Indiana.
