DONALDSON, IN – The Ancilla men’s soccer team went undefeated over the weekend as they grabbed wins over Cuyahoga Community College,Friday 1-0 and Lakeland Community College, Saturday 4-1.

The Chargers took on the Challengers from Cuyahoga Community College, Friday in was a “lopsided win” according to Coach Dave Jacobs. “We took 22 shots and scored only one goal. But at the end of the day, a win is a win. Our offense was all over them the entire game and our defense was excellent.”

Luis Carvalho shot the lone goal for Ancilla in the 29th minute off of a rebound that hit the cross bar and Carvalho found it at the top of the penalty area for the win.

On Saturday, the Chargers were back in action against Lakeland Community College. Ancilla was first to score 20 minutes into the first half on a cross from Ryan Wilcox that found Moustapha Gueye. The Chargers would return to score again 10 minutes later with Lee Hamilton hustling into the box to connect on an assist from Kevin Fortes. This action led the teams into a 2-1 halftime.

At the beginning of the second half, the Chargers worked feverishly to get the third goal when a pass from Josh Forth found Manuel Castellon who blazed past two defenders and the goal keeper for the 3-1 lead. Minutes later, Donte Lloyd found Fortes for the fourth and final goal of the match.

“We found a way to dominate the entire game,” said Jacobs. “Yet we had trouble finding the back of the net. It was a 2-1 ball game at halftime. At the beginning of the second half, Romario Piggott was sent off with his second yellow card. I was proud of the guys because they played just as well down a man that we did the entire game.”

The Chargers are now 7-1, and sit atop the region in first place and are currently ranked 16th in the nation. They team will play home Friday against Schoolcraft College. Game time is set for 4:00p.m.
