The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announces periodic 20 minute closures of U.S. 20, between Pine Road and W. Linwood Blvd, just west of the South Bend International Airport, beginning on Tuesday, October 6. The closures are necessary to ensure driver safety as crews use a large crane to place eleven overhead bridge beams for the U.S. 31/20 Bypass bridge spanning over U.S. 20/Lincoln Way. These 20 minute complete closures of all eastbound and westbound lanes of U.S. 20 will continue periodically throughout the day, Tuesday, October 6 and Wednesday, October 7 (between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m).
To avoid lengthy delays, we are urging drivers to avoid this area through the entire project.
