Serenity Wilson_candlelightThursday evening more than 100 family members, relatives, friends and community citizens gathered in Centennial Park to honor Serenity Wilson with a balloon launch and candlelight vigil.

At the sledding hill everyone lit their candles and several sky lanterns were lit and sent towards the moon shining brightly in the sky.

Serenity Wilson_sky lanternsEveryone walked from the sledding hill toward the Fryman Shelter with their candles and helium filled balloons.   At the shelter the balloons were launched and several people spoke.

One of her grandmothers, Deborah Blacklaw said, “We only have one more day until we say our final goodbyes.”    Another grandparent thanked the crowd for attending and for their support.

Some of those who spoke had children who had played with Serenity.

Comments included, “she was an angle, she was so friendly and she had the biggest smiles, giggles and laughs.”

He father, Cody Wilson said, “Serenity was a beautiful little girl who always had a smile on her face.”

Funeral services for 2 year old Serenity Marie Lynn Wilson will be Friday afternoon at 2 at the Palmer Funeral Home in Lakeville with burial in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Plymouth.
