In 2011 the Bremen Police Department began the process to reestablish a K9 program.  Fundraising was started to offset the initial startup costs of $30,000.  The department turned to would renowned Vohne Liche Kennels in Denver, IN where they purchased Quido.

Quido is trained for apprehension, tracking and narcotics detection.  His handler, Sgt. Trent Stouder is a 13 year veteran of the Bremen Police Department.  During the three and a half years that they have been partners, K9 Quido has been involved in nearly 100 narcotic arrests.  He’s also been involved is search and tracking missing persons and fleeing fugitives.

Now that Quido has turned sever, he is on the downhill side of his service with the Bremen Police Department.  Even though there is no set age to retire a K9, you must prepare for the overall health and ability to do the job to begin decreasing.

The cost for a new K9 and the required training is approximately $15,000 so Bremen Best Chevrolet Buick has decided to conduct a fundraiser this Saturday at their business, 1315 West Plymouth Street.  A special Car Show and Fundraiser will be held from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

All cars, trucks and motorcycles are invited to attend.  Registration is at 9 a.m. and the fee is $15.  Car show awards will be at 3.  There will be Top Ten Awards, the Police Officers Choice Trophy, a dunk tank, 50/50 raffle and door prizes.  You car show buffs will also enjoy Shade Master and GB Customs.

Bremen Best Chevrolet has also invited Nelson’s Port-a-Pit to have chicken and pit potatoes, and Mooney’s Ice Cream will be on hand.

Plan on stopping by the car show and fundraiser at Best Chevrolet Buick in Bremen and help raise money for a new K9.
