Kansas City BBQ“Blazin’ BBQ & Bluegrass Kansas City Barbeque Society Certified Judge’s Class a Success”

Kansas City BBQ_training_1The Marshall County Blazin’ BBQ & Bluegrass hosted its first Kansas City Barbeque Society Certified Judge’s class this on August 8 at the Webster Center in Plymouth.

Thirty-two students travel from five states to learn the art of being a Certified Barbeque Judge (CBJ). A CBJ is more than just getting to taste award-winning barbeque and deciding which barbeque wins those awards. It’s about representing and spreading the message of KCBS, which is to promote America’s cuisine – barbeque.

Kansas CIty BBQ_training_2The class was conducted by two KCBS instructors; in a half-days’ time, students learned how to grade world-class chicken, pulled pork, ribs and brisket – and taste them during the process! By the time they finished, they were ready to sign up for the next competition in their area!

Kansas City BBQ_training_3In other news, the Blazin’ BBQ & Bluegrass event is just around the corner, September 18-19, in beautiful Centennial Park. This year the event showcases the best BBQ grillmasters from across the Midwest, competing in four categories-chicken, ribs, pork, and brisket. Admission is free to the public.

Indulge in a two day BBQ competition with BBQ food vendors, live musical entertainment, a tractor show, square dancing sponsored by Marshall County Farm Bureau, and a beer tasting event that will be held Friday September 18, from 6pm-9pm.  Participants must be 21 years or older to enter.
