115 East Washington_1Plymouth Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt updated members of the Board of Public Works and Safety on the issued with the façade of a building in the 100 block of East Washington.

115 East Washington_2At the last meeting in April members asked Marquardt to contact the building owners, Best Construction Unlimited at 115 East Washington Street and see what their plans were to the make the repairs to the building and open the sidewalk.  Marquardt said the company is talking with the bank and insurance company to find a fix for the bricks.  He said a roofer recently went up on the roof and determined the façade to be secure.

The barrels and yellow tape have been moved back to face of the building on Washington Street opening up the sidewalk and totally removed from the sidewalk on Water Street.

Also during the meeting City Engineer Rick Gaul presented an invoice from SHE for design work on phase II of the Greenway Trail.  The invoice was in the amount of $22,624.91.  Gaul said 40% of the design work is complete and they are working on the hydraulic portion currently.   Construction is expected to begin in 2016.

In other business the Board of Public Works and Safety approved the request of the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce to close the 100 block of North Michigan Street, between LaPorte and Garro Streets on Saturday, June 6th for a Summer Saturday Event.  The closure will be from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. and will include art on the street, music, kid’s events and fun for the whole family.  The board also approved the request of the Marshall County Historical Society for 4 reserved parking spaces on Michigan Street on Saturday, May 16th for the Lincoln Highway Association Spring meeting.  The parking spaces are for some antique vehicles that will be participating in the meeting.
