MeritBOard_1Captain Dan Butt with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department stepped in for Sheriff Chamberlin Monday during the Commissioner’s meeting to officially show the two plaques of appreciation for retiring Merit Board members that will be prominently displayed in the front lobby of the Sheriff’s Department.

Merit board members govern the Sheriff’s Department covering the hiring and discipline of all the officers.

MeritBoard_2Butt said, “On behalf of the Sheriff’s Department, Sheriff Tom Chamberlin and myself we would like to recognize Dr. John Bottorff for his 44 years of service and also Mr. Bud Treat who had the same number of years of service.”  He continued, “We are eternally grateful.”

MeritBoard_3Many of the officers that were hired under merit board members Dr. John Bottorff and Bud Treat stood behind them as there were honored.
