Handcuffs-newOn Sunday, August 9th, at approximately 12:30 PM, officers with the Marshall County Sheriff`s Department, Bremen Police Department and Walkerton Police Department were called to the 800 block of 6th Road in reference to a 23 year old, David R. Hochstetler, being in possession of heroin and currently suffering withdraw from it.

Officers arrived on scene and were told David ran from the house just before officers arrived.   He ran into a corn field at which time officers requested the Walkerton Police K-9 unit respond to assisting in locating Mr. Hochstetler. After a short time, he was located in the corn field and placed into custody.

Hochstetler was transported to the Plymouth Hospital to be examined by hospital staff and then taken to the Marshall County Jail and booked in for Possession of Cocaine or Narcotic; Heroin, a Level 6 Felony.

 

Listeners and readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
