MugShot_BrandonWeldyOn Wednesday afternoon March 11th about 4:20 the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department contacted the Bremen Police Department with information on a possible un-registered sex offender residing in the community.

Officers from the Bremen Police Department located the suspect who was living in Bremen and had failed to register the address as required by the sex offender registry.

After a brief investigation 36 year old Brandon Weldy of Bremen was arrested and incarcerated at the Marshall County Jail on a complaint of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender and Probation Violation. He was held on a $1,505 cash bond until 8:50 p.m. when his bond was posted and he was released.  Weldy was given a April 4th court date in Marshall Superior Court 1.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation. Every defendant is presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty.

Listeners and readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
