sobriety-checkpoints6Indiana State Police Sergeant Ryan Lebo has announced a sobriety checkpoint that will be held in St. Joseph County by Bremen Post Troopers.  The checkpoint will start during the evening hours of Friday March 27.  The checkpoint is in conjunction with the Operation Pull Over Period “Outside the Blitz,” which runs from January 1 through March 31.

The Bremen Post serves St. Joseph, Elkhart, Marshall, and Kosciusko Counties.  After the checkpoint troopers will conduct a saturation patrol looking for impaired drivers.

Motorists are asked to have their driver’s license and vehicle registration available when entering the checkpoint.  This will help minimize the amount of time spent at the checkpoint.  Motorists can expect short delays of only two to three minutes.

The Indiana State Police are committed to traffic safety and will continue to conduct saturation patrols and sobriety checkpoints to apprehend impaired drivers and to deter others from drinking and driving, commented Sergeant Lebo.

The public is encouraged to call 911 or the closest Indiana State Police Post when they observe another motorist that may be impaired.  Be prepared to give a description of the vehicle, location and direction of travel.
