Kainen Lewis had a pair of hits in game two

DONALDSON – It was an up and down day for the Ancilla Chargers as they held on to take an MCCAA split with rival Lake Michigan College winning game one by an 8-6 score and falling in game two by a 7-2 final.

The Chargers jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead in game one on just one first inning hit taking advantage of team speed and baserunning – the highlight a steal of home by Jason Ferguson (Warsaw High School) and a two run double by starting pitcher Luke Gaboury (Mishawaka Marian High School).

The Red Hawks fought back to tie with a four run fourth, but Dalton Clark (Rockville High School) came on in relief of Gaboury and picked up his second win in three days with three solid innings striking out four and scattering three hits.

Game two was all Lake Michigan as they picked up another four run fourth and rode the pitching of Brady Wasko to the win.

Ferguson took the loss in game two. Kainen Lewis (Louisville Male High School) had two of Ancilla’s five hits in game two.

The Chargers (8-16) hit the road to Lansing for a weekend doubleheader and play in Fort Wayne on Sunday against Indiana Tech.
