DONALDSON, IN – The Ancilla Charger Men’s Soccer team is named the 2015-16 Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) conference champions after a 2-1 win Wednesday, over Muskegon Community College.

“It was a great game which we have been looking forward too,” said Ancilla Coach Dave Jacobs.

It only took two minutes to get the Chargers on the board when Manuel Castellon found Romario Piggott for goal one of the game. Ancilla would score again and take a 2-0 lead in the 32nd minute on a goal from Kevin Fortes that was sinked over two defenders. Muskegon scored after an awarded penalty kick making it a 2-1 game to end the first half.

In the second half it would be an exciting yet scoreless time that would see Ancilla miss several opportunities.

“We had our chances to put the game away but nonetheless our team defense was stellar,” commented Jacobs. “Max Lopex commanded his box and the team wound not yield. I am very proud of these guys. We have a hard road ahead but we’re all looking forward to it.”

The win Wednesday, also secured Ancilla the 1st seed at the Regional tournament in Lakeland, OH starting October 28th.
