DONALDSON, IN – The Ancilla College men’s soccer team, currently ranked 14th in the NJCAA Division I poll, defeated Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) Conference rival, Lake Michigan College at home Wednesday night, 5-1.

The Chargers took eight minutes to find their first goal and it was freshman Miguel Zavalas’ pass that helped set up Luis Carvalho’s first goal for Ancilla. Six minutes later, Carvalho would score again with an assist from Lee Nicholson and with 15 minutes to go in the first half, the Chargers were awarded a penalty when Khalil Williams was fouled in the box. Williams went on to convert the penalty for a 3-0 lead to end the first half.

Ten minutes into the second half, Ancilla’s Denny Garcia found Kevin Fortes for the Chargers fourth goal. Lake Michigan was able to draw a free kick just outside of the box to strike their first and only goal of the game and Ancilla answered their action with a blasting header from Rodolfo Baquerizo off a cross from Helder Semedo for the final score of the game. The Chargers outshot Lake Michigan, 24-5.
