DONALDSON, IN – The Charger Men’s Soccer team traveled to Ohio on Saturday to face off against Cincinnati State in Region XII play, with a game ending tie of 3-3.

Ancilla was able to keep the ball for the majority of the first half and scored in the 11th minute on an assist from Romario Piggott to Kevin Fortes for the finish. Then in the 27th minute it was Fortes returning the favor to Piggott when he smashed a shot from outside the penalty area into the corner.

Cincinnati was able to score in the 40th minute when Max Lopez was unable to handle a shot and gave a rebound two yards out. The Surge of Cincinnati would score again the in the 55th and 67th minute to pull ahead 3-2. Ancilla battled back and scored in the 85th minute when Kevin Mendoza sent a ball to the back post that Josh Logan headed into the net.

“It is a concern that we continue to give up goals that are soft,” remarked Ancilla Coach Dave Jacobs. “We are fortunate that we can score when we need to. Luckily, this game had no implications on us as we have already secured the first seed in the Regional Playoffs that begin Wednesday.”

The Charger men’s soccer team ended their regular season 13-2-1 and were named Michigan Community College Athletic Association Conference Champions as well as regular season Region Champions.
