TennisCourt_ariel_CurrentA feasibility study to look at the current location of the tennis courts in Centennial Park was approved Monday night during a special Park Board meeting.

Last week City Engineer Rick Gaul, Jeannine Xaver the City Clerk Treasurer, Mayor Mark Senter, City Attorney Sean Surrisi, Tennis Committee Chairman Sarah Smith and Park Board President Dave Morrow met to discuss the tennis project.

TennisCourt_drawingThe feasibility study will make certain that the footprint of the proposed tennis facility will fit in the current location instead of moving it north to a new location.  It was learned that the current tennis courts do not sit in the flood plain and that the soil borings for the new site were very similar to the current site.

Board president Dave Morrow asked for a received a motion to move forward with the feasibility study.

It is anticipated that the study will cost $12,500 and the city’s Engineering Department has money in their budget to pay for the project.  The architect for the Tennis Committee, Hebard and Hebard in South Bend was contracted to do the feasibility study for the city.
