County News_logoThe Marshall County Commissioners approved change order number one for the wetland mitigation site for the 7th Road project during their meeting Monday.  The change order, in the amount of $7,963 was necessary to remove the buildup of thatch in the 6.4 acre site to allow the new seeding to be able to adhere to secure soil.

The commissioners also approved a resolution to enter into a grant agreement with INDOT for federal dollars for transportation.  The annual agreement provides a portion of the funding needed to provide transportation services in Marshall County.  The grant is in the amount of $170,244.  Jackie Wright presented a budget which listed total expenses for transportation at $421,000.

Pam Davis from the Marshall County Assessor’s office presented a contract with a new software provider, X-Soft.  Currently the county has been with Thomson Reuters MVP, a company providing global assessment services.  It was noted that issues are slow to be addressed and the current annual maintenance fee is $37,552.92.  The current system also uses three different programs to complete the job.

Although the new software is $173,000 the system incorporates everything into one system making it much easier to work with.    The annual maintenance fee is also substantially less at $29,300.   Assessor Debbie Dunning will transfer funds from the Reassessment fund to cover the $173,000.  The payment will be split over the next four years.
