The Marshall County Council will conduct the 2016 Budget hearings on Tuesday, August 18th beginning at 9 a.m.

Budget_2015Budget requests for the County’s general fund total is $9,832,586 while the special funds have a total request of $13,769,126.  The general fund budget for 2015 was approved at $8,677,613 while the special funds were approved at $14,628,068

General fund budgets include the Commissioners, Drainage Board, Building Maintenance, Cum Bridge, Local Road and Streets, CAGIT Correctional Facility, CAGIT Sheriff Certified Shares,  CAGIT Jail Certified Shares, Clerk, Voter Registration, Election Board, Treasurer, Recorder, Surveyor, Coroner, Assessor, Prosecutor, Purdue Extension, Veteran Service Officer, BZA, Plan Commission, Building Inspector, Information Systems, Museum,  Superior Courts I & II and Circuit Court, Probation, Weights & Measurers, EMA, Soil & Water, Auditor and County Council.

Special Funds include: Rainy Day, Cum Cap Development, Highway Administration, Motor Vehicle Highway, County Extradition, County Corrections, Statewide 911, Lake Enforcement, Clerk’s Perpetuation, Clerk’s IV-D, Sales Disclosure, Reassessment, Prosecutor’s Pre-Trial Diversion, Drug Task Force, Prosecutor’s IV-D, Historical Society, Court Services, Adult Probation Administrative Fees, Adult Probation Supplemental, Drug Free Community, LEPC, Health Department, WIC, DARE, Plat Mapping, County Officials Training Fund.

The DLGF (Department of Governmental Finance) estimates the county’s 2016 revenues to the $16 million plus.

Marshall County Auditor, Julie Fox said the county council will need to make cuts in the general fund budget.

The Budget Hearings are open to the public, will last all day and will be conducted in the second floor meeting room of the County Building.
