CMA logoThere are 12 slots still available for women wishing to schedule an appointment with the mobile mammography unit from Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center. For her senior service project, Olivia Sever ’15 (Newport Beach, Calif.) has arranged for the mobile unit to visit Culver Academies on Friday, April 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call (574) 335-4500 or (888) 455-4450 to make an appointment.

SJRMC_Mobile Mammography UnitThe mobile unit will be set up in the northeast parking lot next to the Steinbrenner Recreation Center and Henderson Ice Rink. The mammograms will take about 20 minutes and will be billed to your insurance. You must be at least 40 years old to receive the service, and it also must be at least a year and one day from your most recent mammogram. However, if your mother or sister has had breast cancer, you may receive the mammogram if you are 10 or fewer years younger than her at the time of diagnosis (if you are less than 40).

After receiving the mammogram, Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center will send the results to your personal physician, who will proceed from there. Appointments can be made up April 16. If you have any questions, please call the above numbers or email Sever.

“I hope that the convenience of this service will encourage women to get a mammogram,” Sever said.
