PLYMOUTH – A pair of local authors are hoping to carry their message of survival to kids.

Cancer survivor Eric Day and artist Daniel Flynn have teamed up on a kids book “Stay Positive” – an offering for kids that builds on the message of Day’s foundation of the same name. After surviving a bout with cancer Day’s mission has been to help others with their fight and even in their daily lives.

Eric Day with his book“The book is written out of some of the stories I encountered while I was in the hospital,” said Day. “There were people who were better off than me of course but there were a lot that were in a lot worse shape than I was. The book I hope shares those stories of courage.”

Day says there are several things he hopes come across from “Stay Positive”.

“There are always people worse off and better off than you, the only control you really have is over your attitude,” he said. “I hope that it can help teachers and kids have a place to start a conversation about having a positive attitude. I hope that it can be used as a teaching tool.”

Day started his Stay Positive Foundation three years ago when he entered Butler University. He will graduate in the spring and hopes to keep the organization alive. He speaks two to three times a week to organizations bringing his message of encouragement.

“I love speaking to high school age groups because the message I really want to get across is that it’s never too late to accomplish what you want to accomplish. (Stay Positive) has been a way for me to give back and try to make a difference in somebody elses life.”

Day’s book is available through Barnes & Noble on Amazon.com.
