school_calendarWith school start up fast approaching, parents will want to take a close look at the school calendars to plan vacations or child care. Several of the Marshall County schools have adopted a balanced calendar that includes some different break days than those of previous years.

Argos students will start on August 12, have Labor Day (September 7) off and then have their first break from October 21-23. The traditional Thanksgiving Break will be November 25-27. Christmas break will start of December 21 with students going back to school on January 5. February 15, President’s Day, is listed on the calendar as a day off with the stipulation that it may be used as a Make Up day. Spring Break will be from March 21-25. Students will have April 29 off  (could be Make Up day) and end the school year on May 24; however, the school year could be extended to May 27 if there is a need for additional Make Up days.

Bremen School’s students will begin on August 13 and attend every school day, with the exception Labor Day, until the Fall Break of October 23. They will also have no student attendance on November 6 for teacher records day and professional development. Their Thanksgiving Break will be from November 25-27; Christmas Break from December 21-January 1; and Spring Break from April 4-8. Additional days off include Jan. 18 (Martin Luther King Day), February 15 (President’s Day); and February 22 (Teacher records and professional development day).

Snow Make up days, if necessary, could include Jan. 18, Feb. 15, March 25, April 29, and May 27.

The Plymouth Schools have adopted a balanced calendar that includes four quarters. Students will begin on August 5. There are two days off in September including September 4 for teacher professional development and Labor Day.  Students will have a full week off for Fall Break from October 19-23. Students will be off for Thanksgiving Break November 25-27 and Christmas Break from December 21 to January 1. Students will not return to school, however, until January 5 since January 4 is listed as a teacher workday. Both MLK Day in January and President’s Day in February will be No Student days. Spring Break will be from March 28th until April 8th and the last student day on May 27. Possible Make Up days could be from June 1-10; however, a notation on the calendar explains the PCSC plans to make up days virtually pending the State Board of Education approval. Administrators have also noted that the calendar is subject to change until the end of the school year depending on State Testing Requirements.

Oregon-Davis students will begin on August 4 and have their first day off on Labor Day. Fall Break will be from October 19-23; Thanksgiving Break, November 25-27; and Christmas Break, December 21-January 1. They will also have no students attending on January 4 for a teacher professional development day. Additional days off include Feb. 15 (President’s Day); March 25 (Good Friday); Spring Break from March 28th until April 8th; April 18; and May 6. The unique additions to the Oregon-Davis calendar include remediation sessions from October 19-21 and April 4-8. The calendar lists possible make up days as March 25, April 18, May 6, and May 27-June 3.

The Culver Community Schools have also adopted a balanced calendar. Students will start the school year on August 4 and have their first day off on Labor Day. Students will also be off on September 18 for Teacher In-Service Day.  Fall break will be from October 22-23; Thanksgiving Break, November 25-27; and Christmas Break December 21-January 1. Additional days when no students will attend include MLK Day in January; Teacher In-Service Day on February 5; President’s Day in February; and Good Friday, March 25. Spring Break will be from March 28-April 1. The last student day will be June 2. They will also have early dismissal on Fridays with the elementary school dismissed at 2:30 and the middle school/high school dismissal at 2:42. The calendar also includes what they term intercession days on October 26-30 and April 4-8. Possible Make up days include MLK Day, President’s Day and Good Friday.  Parents are also reminded that Plymouth will have last starts on Mondays beginning on August 10th.

Triton School’s students will begin on August 4 and attend every school day until Labor Day. Students will not be attending on October 13 for Teacher Professional Development Day and also have October 19-23 off for Fall Break. The calendar lists November 25 as a No School day and Thanksgiving Break from November 26-27. Their Winter Break will be from December 21 until January 1. As in some other school corporations, students will not have to attend on January 4 as it is listed as a Professional Development Day. Other days off include President’s Day on February 15; Spring Break, March 28-31 and April 1-8; and May 6. The last student day will be May 26. Possible Make Up days include January 4, February 15, May 6, May 27, May 31, and June 1-3. A notation the calendar indicates that there will be early dismissal every Friday during the school year with the elementary dismissal at 2:35 PM and the high school dismissal at 2:45.

Parents/guardians are encouraged to refer to the calendars provided by the school corporations at the beginning of the school year as well as other correspondence during the school year.
