OQC2014_StockingStuffer_goodieBagWhile most of us are preparing for fall and Halloween, Operation Quiet Comfort is already thinking about Christmas.

They are preparing to fill 1,000 stocking for the troops who are being treated in medical facilities and for the staff that care for them.  Each stocking is filled with a beef stick and a granola bar, hand and toe warmers, assorted seasonal goodies, a puzzle book, packets of instant hot chocolate, an overseas calling card and specially written holiday cards from OQC volunteers and the community.

OQC2014_StockingStuffer_Friendship QuiltersIt’s estimated that it costs about $10 to provide a stocking to each military member.   Donations of $10 will help to provide the stockings and Operation Quite Comfort is also accepting the donation of small, 5×7 puzzle books such as word search and crossword along with click pens.  They will also accept boxes of Swiss Miss Hot Chocolate Mix.  Donations can be dropped off at WTCA, 112 West Washington Street or ASK For Flowers in Michigan Street in downtown Plymouth.

Financial donations can also be made through PayPal at admin@operationquietcomfort.com or you can mail them to Operation Quiet Comfort, 17671 13th Road in Plymouth, IN 46563.

Saturday, November 14th will be the day to fill the stockings and pack the boxes for shipping.  Anyone is welcome to attend and a free lunch will be provided for volunteers.  For more information contact Jan Houin at 936-1424 or janh@operationquietcomfort.com.
