The Auto Park Service Center on Airport Road in Plymouth will host a donation oil change for Sophia.
Sophia will start school this fall in Plymouth and needs two automatic external defibrillators (AED), one to stay at school and one for home and travel. Sophia is an amazing little girl that was born with a rare congenital heart defect called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS), which puts her in a high risk category for heart failure, heart attacks, or a stroke.
The AED’s are considered a precaution although these lifeline devices could save Sophia’s life at any given point is she was to go into cardiac arrest. Studies show a 90% survival rate on a cardiac patient if an AED is used within the first 2 minutes of cardiac arrest.
This Saturday, the Auto Park Service Center will do oil changes and the Advances Auto will provide all the oil filters for the fundraiser so all of the money donated will go directly to the purchase of AED’s for Sophia.
Sophia is the daughter of 1997 PHS graduate Ryan Castro and Nicole Haines.
