Donnelly, Joe in officeWashington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Joe Donnelly, who serves on the Senate Armed Services Committee, announced Wednesday that his office will host a Veterans History Project event on Thursday, January 29, 2015, in Rochester at the Wynnfield Crossing Senior Living Community from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM EST. The Veterans History Project is an effort by the Library of Congress to preserve the historic experiences of those who served in the military by recording their personal narratives.

“The men and women who courageously served our country have moving stories to share about their service,” said Donnelly.  “It is important that we record their statements so that future generations have the opportunity to learn from the experiences and sacrifices they have made to protect our freedoms.”

Donnelly’s staff and other Hoosier volunteers will be present to interview veterans.  Area veterans are encouraged to attend in order to have their stories recorded. Individuals in the community who would like to volunteer to interview the veterans are also welcome.  Veterans who want to share their stories and volunteers who want to interview veterans should RSVP to Donnelly’s office by contacting Brian Cavanaugh at Brian_Cavanaugh@donnelly.senate.gov or by calling 317-226-5555.
