My Approved PortraitsWashington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Joe Donnelly released the following statement Friday after voting against the Senate Republican Budget Resolution, which passed 52 to 46.

“Too many middle- and working-class families in Indiana are still struggling to provide better lives for their children. While the economy has improved, wages are flat, and thousands of families cannot make ends meet. Clearly, we have work to do to increase opportunities for these hardworking families and the businesses that employ them. The Senate Republican budget would decrease opportunities for Hoosiers—cutting Pell grants for college students, reducing research funding for Indiana universities, and slashing infrastructure investment, causing job loss. I voted against this budget because we should be working together to get our fiscal house in order and make things easier, not more difficult, for middle- and working-class families.”
