Election 2015There were three communities in Marshall County that conducted elections on Tuesday; Argos, Culver and Plymouth.  With 7943 registered voters in these communities, only 1891 took the time to vote making the voter turn-out a miserable 23.8%.  There were 293 absentee ballots counted, 2 were thrown out at the final certification and 1891 people who went to the polls and voted on Tuesday.

Mayor-RexFor the City of Plymouth, incumbent Mark Senter will serve a third term as Mayor.  Senter received 864 votes beating his Democratic challenger Rex Crump who received 543 votes.

There will be a new look to the Plymouth City Council next year.  With the city’s population going over 10,000 two new seats will be added to the council.  Those seats are at-large positions and will be filled by two democrats.  Republican incumbent Mike Delp was the top at getting votes 843 allowing him to retain his at-large seat. The second seat went to Democrat Gary Cook who received 702 votes and Democrat Jeff Houin ended the evening in third with 697 votes.  The others candidates vying for those new seats were Republican Bill Walters with 633 votes, Democrat Josh Walker with 593 votes and Republican Burke Richeson with 522 votes.

Republican incumbent Don Ecker Jr. will keep his second district seat on the city council defeating Max Schuh with 204 votes to his 163 votes.

In District three, the Republican incumbent, Wayne Smith was defeated by Democrat Shiloh Fonseca.  Four years ago Fonseca challenged Smith for that same seat and only lost by only 14 votes.

The Plymouth City Council Seat for district four was retained by Republican incumbent Shawn Grobe.  Grobe receive 239 votes while his Democratic challenger Warren Allen only received 174 votes.

Argos will have a new Clerk Treasurer.  Republican Lisa Mullaney defeated incumbent Patty Jones in the primary and gathered 77% of the votes Tuesday night beating Democratic challenger Kelli Vanderweele 145 to 42 votes.

The Argos Town council had four candidates for three seats. Republican Juli Stauffer had the most votes with 140 while number two was Republican Craig Ellis with 126 votes.  Both Republican Charles Randy Snead and Democrat incumbent Dustin Johnson received 121 votes each to tie.  The Argos Town Council will vote to break that tie.  If there is another tie then the Argos Town Clerk will make the final vote.

Republican incumbent for Culver Town Clerk Treasurer Karen Heim received 67% of the votes with 184 while her challenger Democrat Gil Standley received 90 votes.

The Culver Town Council will have some new faces.  There were three seats open and Republican incumbent Ginny Bess Munroe received the top number of votes with 216 while second was Libertarian Joel Samuelson with 159 votes and third was Democrat Tammy Schafer.  The other candidates were Republican Robert Cooper who received 117 votes and Republican incumbent Jean Rakich with 107 votes.

These elections results are unofficial.  The Marshall County Election Board will meet on Friday, November 13th at 1 p.m. to certify the municipal elections.
