YellowRiverFestival2015The 9th Annual Yellow River Festival takes place this weekend in River Park Square.  The festival is a celebration of the historical and ecological significance of the Yellow River to Marshall County.

The event kicks off Saturday morning with the welcome by Teressa Welborn at 10 follow by the Marshall County Church Orchestra performing period music and hymns from 10:30 until noon.  Local architect and historian, Kurt Garner will speak about the building of Michigan Road at noon and Dr. Tom Buchanan will talk about medical history at 12:30.

Historical reenactment performer and Indiana native, Danny Russel will return to the Yellow River Festival, to present his portrayal of Abraham Lincoln. Russel’s portrayal will be seen at 1 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.

Steve McPhail has portrayed the legendary nurseryman Johnny Appleseed for a couple of years at the YRF.  He’ll be in costume and character on Saturday and Sunday at 1:30 the festival on the bank of the Yellow River in downtown Plymouth.

Other entertainment for the weekend include the Tie Hackers Band at 2 o’clock both days and the ever popular Liars Bench at 3 on Saturday and on Sunday at 9:30 a non-denominational church service.
