Felke FloristLong-time Plymouth business, Felke Florist is set to celebrate their 160th year in business with a special Open House on Wednesday, October 28th from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Fleke Florist is a fifth generation family-owned business started in the 1800’s by Chicago’s first documented female florist, “Flower Mary” Felke.  The young mother made her mark by first gathering flowers in the fields in the just growing city of Chicago, and peddling them in the train station.  As her popularity grew, so did her business, which was lost twice to fire, including damage in the Great Chicago Fire.  In the early 1900’s the business was brought to northern Indiana, eventually, settling in Plymouth at the present historical location on South Michigan Street in Plymouth.

One of the oldest family-owned busineses in Indiana, Felke Florist has won countless awards among them, the FTD Top 650 National Award, Teleflora Top 1000 Nationwide, the Indiana Governor’s 50 Year Award and numerous local Favorite Florist Awards.

Current owner and “Flower Mary’s” great-great grandson, Chris Felke and his design staff are proud to be continuing the Felke family tradition of serving the community by providing their customers beautiful flowers for all occasions.

Felke Florist would like to say thank-you to the community through an invitation to join in their celebratory Open House today from 4 until 7 p.m.
