flood advisoryThe National Weather Service in Northern Indiana has issued an urban and small stream flood advisory for poor drainage areas for central Marshall County until 9:30 p.m. Sunday night.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause ponding of water on highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage areas and low lying spots.

Marshall County EMA tells drivers, “Do not attempt to travel across flooded roads, find alternative routes.”
The Weather Service reports that conditions are favorable for thunderstorms with heavy rain to persist all week and into next weekend.  A moisture laden airmass will remain over the region as a front meanders across the area.   Between 3 to 6 inches of rain has fallen over the past two weeks over nearly the entire area.  Additional heavy rainfall will likely cause flooding of local areas and also may lead to widespread flooding.  There is a good chance that additional watches and warnings will be needed this week.

At 6:45 Sunday evening the Yellow River in Plymouth measured at 7 feet 2 inches up from 6 feet 4 inches at 6:45 on Saturday.
