Shiloh Fonseca Jeff HouinWednesday morning two more democratic candidates filed their intentions to run for the Plymouth municipal election.

Shiloh Fonseca was born and raised in Plymouth and is a graduate of Point Park College in Pittsburg.   A member of the CWA local 4900 Shiloh has participated in politics her entire life and is the daughter of former Plymouth City Council member and former County Democratic Chair Michelle Livinghouse.

In 2011 Fonseca challenged Wayne Smith for the Center 3 City Council seat in an extremely close race that Smith won.

When asked why she decided to try again Shiloh said, “Well, it’s in my blood and the city has started so many great project and I want to make sure they follow through on the Greenway Trail and the downtown park which I love.”  Fonseca said the recent TV story which pointed out the large number of vacant store fronts in downtown Plymouth was concerning.  She said, “I’d love to see some more activity downtown. I hate for what’s there to just dry up and not be able to function down there and not have enough business.”  Shiloh continued, “We have great businesses and I don’t want those people who work hard to lose their businesses because there isn’t enough business going into the downtown area.”

From 2000 -2009, Shiloh served as a city employee in the role of Parks and Recreation Director.  She feels her knowledge of how the city budgets are operated.

More so now, I’m not only raising my kids here, but I now own a business.”  He continued, “I’ve committed to making this my hometown for the foreseeable future.”

Houin said the thought the city was in good shape financially.  Jeff commented, “There’s a lot of potential, a lot of people in this community who are focused on the future and improving the city and I want to be part of that.”     He closed by saying, “I bring skills and qualifications to the table and I want to make sure we stay focused on the future.”

Candidates have until noon on Friday to file for the municipal elections in Plymouth or Bremen for the May primary.
