PHS Generator_1All activities at Plymouth High School have been either postponed or relocated until the installation of a new generator is completed. The installation should take approximately two weeks.

According to Dave Schoof, who heads up the maintenance department of the corporation, the current generator was installed in 1976. Schoof said, “We have kept it going the best we could, but now parts are getting scare to make repairs.” The replacement generator had been on the list of capital projects for quite some time.

PHS Generator_oldSchoof said the new generator will take the capacity to 450 KW from 86 KW. He indicated that several new things run by the generator have been added in the building making the larger capacity necessary such as the walk-in coolers and freezers and added technology throughout the building.

He said, “We do not have a number of other large projects scheduled for this summer. We had to make the change in the summer since it is necessary for many things including hot water circulation.”

Summer school classes for the second session have been moved to Lincoln Junior High. The graduation ceremony for the Plymouth Adult Education that was postponed due to flooding will now take place at LJH on July 9.
