George CookGeorge Cook was named as the Globe Award Winner for 2015.  This award is given to a firefighter from District 5 in the State which represents several Counties for their contributions to the Fire Service.   Cook started in 1972 as a volunteer firefighter.

In 1983 became full time Firefighter for Plymouth Fire Department.  In 1985 became certified EMT.

In 1985 served as a Wildland Firefighter for the State of Indiana; retire from Wildland firefighting in 2000. Cook has been on 25 wildfires such as Yellowstone Fire, Storm King west and as far south as Florida.

Cook is a certified Public educator, since 1989.

Fire Prevention and Safety Programs; have educated over 80,000 children in the Plymouth School System K-5th grade.  From 1990 until now used our Fire Safety Smoke House in all elementary schools with one hour classroom time.

Cook participated in four World Police and Fire Games from Indianapolis to Quebec, Canada.  He also received medals in three of the games.  Hold 3 firsts, three silvers, ad 2 bronze medals in Cross Country 1500 and 800 meter races.

Have certificates of Firefighter I & II, EMT, Tactics, Fire Officer I, Fire Instructor II & III, Arson, Pump Operation and Public Education from the National Fire Academy.

Cook has held the rank of Lieutenant, Assistant Fire Chief and Fire Chief, and currently holding the position of Assistant Fire Chief.

Cook has been Named Firefighter of the Year for Marshall County twice.

He has received, Distinguished Service Award from Plymouth Community Schools.

Cook has selected as the public Servant of the Year – Plymouth Chamber of Commerce.

Honorable Mention Fire Educator of the Year Nationally by Syndistar Inc. 1-30 nationwide.
