FreedomPark_PackardWoods_phase2The Freedom Park Committee will be hosting a ground breaking ceremony Tuesday, March 17th at 5:00 p.m. at Packard Woods in Plymouth, Ind., the future home of Freedom Park. Phase 1 of the all-inclusive playground project is getting started and is expected to be completed by this summer. Everyone is invited to attend and celebrate the exciting beginning of this wonderful addition to the Marshall County community.

The Freedom Park Committee, in conjunction with the Plymouth Parks Department, is spearheading an initiative to build an all-inclusive playground in Plymouth, Indiana. An all-inclusive playground is designed and created to be accessible to all children and adults of all abilities.

FreedomPark_PackardWoods_phase1Freedom Park has been broken up into three phases. Phase 1 includes the main, large play structure, a few other pieces of play equipment, plus a Zero-G Chair, which is a high-back swing that allows children who require additional support to swing alongside their peers. A splash pad is part of phase 2, while phase 3 includes a sensory garden. The Freedom Park committee is continuing to raise funds for phases two and three by selling bricks that will be used to help build the entrance to the playground, and hosting its second annual color run in Centennial Park on August 1, 2015.

“We are incredibly excited that the first phase of Freedom Park will be completed this summer. Our committee has worked very hard to raise funds over the last three years for a project that we truly feel will benefit the entire community,” said Tony Gamble, Co-chair of the committee.
