Halloween_Safety_TipsHalloween is an exciting time of year for children, and to help ensure they have a safe holiday, here are a few safety tips from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Marshall County Emergency Management Agency.
H – Have a flashlight while trick-or-treating to help you see and others to see you.
A – Always be sure to test make-up first to make sure you don’t have an allergic reaction. Remove it before bedtime to prevent possible skin and eye irritation.
L – Look both ways before crossing the street. Use established crosswalks.
L – Look out for pets that may be frightened by costumes. Never pet an animal unless given permission by the owner.
O – Only walk on sidewalks. Avoid walking in between cars and on the road.
W – Wear well-fitting masks, costumes, and shoes to avoid blocked vision, trips and falls.
E – Eat only factory-wrapped treats that have been inspected by mom or dad. Avoid eating homemade treats made by strangers.
E – Enter homes only if you’re with a trusted adult. It is safer to trick-or treat in a group. Never accept rides from strangers.
N – Never get to close to lit candles. Be sure to wear flame resistant costumes.

Have a safe and spook-tacular Halloween….
