LJH_Blankets_4Mrs. Betsy Barron’s 8th Grade Pre-Algebra students at Innovation Academy at Lincoln Jr. High School are making baby blankets for the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth.

LJH_Blankets_1Students were divided into groups where they had to raise the money, between $10.00 to $30.00 that they would need to make their blankets. Each group committed to making two baby blankets which were approx. $5.00 each to produce. Students involved in this project have been holding bake sales, nacho parties, selling bags of puppy chow, having dress-up days, etc. to raise their blanket material money.

LJH_Blankets_2Students had to keep track of expenses, donations and keep receipts. They will also be writing thank you notes to those who donated to their cause when the blankets are finished.

LJH_Blankets_3The 8th graders committed to 30 total blankets with Delta Theta Tau for May and as of today, they will have more than 30 blankets made by the end of the school year.  The blanket materials were chosen by the students and are themed to either be for a baby boy or a baby girl.
