Randy-HeadIndiana is once again leading the way on finding state-driven solutions to our health-care needs.

Last month, Governor Mike Pence announced that Indiana and the federal government have made an agreement to expand the Healthy Indiana Plan with HIP 2.0.

Senator Randy Head said, “This consumer-driven plan will be used instead of Medicaid to offer access to quality health care to 350,000 uninsured Hoosiers without the need for any new state tax dollars.

doctor-nurse-child-patientUnlike traditional Medicaid, HIP 2.0 empowers Hoosiers to take personal responsibility for their own health by putting them in charge of their medical care and requiring participants to make contributions to a health savings account.  The plan also refers applicants to job training and job search programs offered by the State of Indiana.

The Family and Social Services Administration is taking applications and coverage will begin almost immediately.
