HeartlandArtist_Feb2015‘Change is All Around Us’ at the NEW Heartland Artists.  Gallery Gerrie Govert, from Crown Point will be the solo and featured artist  from Feb. 3rd through Feb. 28th. The pastel medium display is titled ‘Change is All Around Us’ and the theme is: The passage of time is seen in the seasons and in the faces of the people around us.

Speaking of change, the Gallery closed its doors on LaPorte Street Jan. 31st and moved just across the street in downtown Plymouth. The Heartland Gallery’s new location at 101 N. Michigan Street (former Clark’s Collectables location). The Gallery is thrilled to welcome Gerrie Govert as the first artist in the new location with her incredible landscapes and portraits done in vivid pastels. Gerrie Covert is well known in the region and she enjoys several areas of concentration – landscapes, still life, portraits, and surrealism. Her list of Awards includes the following competitions: Indiana Pastel Society Member’s Exhibit, Hobart Arts League 5th Annual Juried Art Exhibit, Chesterton Women’s Club 62nd Annual Art Show, Chicago Pastel Society National Juried Exhibition, Art Comp’s Biennial Juried Art Competition, 34th Elkhart Juried Regional Exhibition and Best of Show award at the Heartland Artists 24th Annual Juried Exhibit. Her work is also shown at the Hoosier Salon, Art Barn, Miller Beach Arts, Indiana Heritage Arts and other galleries. Gerrie’s piece, Entwined, was accepted into the Heartland Artists’ 26th Annual Juried Regional Art Show in 2014 and was chosen to receive the Marcia Price Memorial Fund First Prize Award. According to the event’s judge Jamie Ball, who works as an instructor at Culver Academies, “First, second, and third places all went to artists who chose a botanical theme, but each approached the subject in a completely different media and approach, all masterfully.”

The Gallery has scheduled a Grand Opening at the new location on Sunday afternoon from 1:30-3:30, Feb. 22nd. Join us in the new Gallery and view landscapes that you will want to step into.
