brown-bag-lunch-series-freeThe Marshall County Museum on North Michigan Street in downtown Plymouth  will host Master Gardener, Sue Childs, for the next Brown Bag Lunch Event entitled, “Say Hello to Heirlooms:  Flowers, Veggies and Herbs” on Friday, May 8, from 12-1.

The program will be an introduction to the marvelous, tasty and beautiful world of old-fashioned plants.  Those in attendance will be eligible to win an heirloom plant that will be given away at the event!  Sue’s love for heirloom plants, both ornamental and edible, led her to Buckley Homestead Living History Farm in Lowell, IN where she volunteered in the gardens and eventually joined the staff as an historic interpreter.  She later was accepted to take part intensive study program at the Thomas Jefferson Institute of Historic Landscape at the University of Virginia, where she had the opportunity to work in the gardens at Monticello, Thomas Jefferson’s home.

Sue and her husband, John, own and operate Childs’ Farms, a 45-acre farm where they grow heirloom plants, and have hayrides, sleigh rides and run a pumpkin picking patch 6 miles south of Plymouth.

Bring your sack lunch and a friend to the Museum for another interesting speaker on an intriguing historic topic.
